My blogging Experience!!! ;D

M… I guess that I always want to have a blog, and write… as in the movie Julie & Julia but I never did. So this experience gave me the chance to do it, and it is been great because it is a way to: Express me, develop my English, and relax me… maybe the bad things that I really don’t have much time to do it, and in my degree I have been working with 3 blogs, so it is good but the environment makes down my desire to write on the blog, but above all it is been a great experience, something new that I would to repeat in another circumstances.

Has it helped your English, your confidence when writing, and fluency??? Why, why not?

M… I do not know if I had improved my confidence because I had never feel worry writing so I do not feel any change in my confidence. But I think that now I am so much careful in my way to write than before.

Give your opinion about the advantages and disadvantages of writing on a blog in this class.

Advantages:

- Practice English in an uncommon way to do it, at less for me.

- Use English as a language, I mean express yourself, write in your own way to tell things, naturally, not just translate.

- Challenge us to write well, under pressure as a test, in our own words so we must improve our grammar and vocabulary.

- Be a useful way to evaluate, because it is pretty hard to do it in Spanish and use a translator.

Disadvantages:

- It is a lot of work to check it.

As this is my last blog in this CFG, I just want to give thanks for the chance to do this, it is a new way to learn for me and it is pretty good, thanks for your love to teach English miss, and for be so friendly to my classmates ;D

I hope he'll be able to support me in my old age... ajajaj

The job market: what would your ideal job be?

M…. I’ll start with my own definition of “an ideal job”.

An ideal job it’s the one in:

I have fun

I’m good

I help people.

And I also have time to realize me in other areas.

Do you think the job market is an issue for health professionals?

Of course!!! You know, I’m afraid about be an speech therapy, because I think that it’s hard to work with people for a long time and keep them motivated and also the law let speech therapy work just 30 minutes per week in language schools per child with an specific language impairment.

What your ideal job would be, why?

1) Travel around the World, speaking many languages, translating things, dancing, teaching about God’s love, being a songwriter, a musician, a singer, a tour guide of extreme sports, a movie director and editor… I don’t really know what will be the name of that job but I will certainly love it ;D

2)I think that I will love teach people, about how to care their: voice, ears, and everything that i will learn. And work with people with several impairments.

What other people would be involved?

M… everybody that will want to hear me (talk about prevention).

What makes you think this is the ideal job?

Because i love to talk, specially when i can help.

Would you like to have that job forever?

The first yeahhhh, the second one m….. NO! i think that it’s boring do the same for a long time, so i guess that i ….???? …. I Will pray to know what i should do… and too young to time in a future so far xD

In our university we can raise our voice, we are pretty differents but nobody “get someone to be quiet” so…

…Today we talk about “Questions and Answers About Sex”, in this topic we cover masturbation and i can’t convince me that it is healthy, so as christian i start to think What the Bible says about masturbation??? So i looked for and this is what i found:

“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery.’ But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lustful intent has already committed adultery with her in his heart.” Matthew 5:27-28

It isn’t explicit, but i think… why do you wanna masturbate??

*According to the FAQ at alt.sex.masturbation, masturbation is "sexual activity involving only one person." 1 Other widely used emotionally neutral terms are: "self-stimulation," "auto-eroticism" and "self-pleasuring."

And the erotic fantasies that accompany the masturbation appears in a 64% of the women which they are masturban, and in 99% of men who do it.

Covering all the info, I can think that “fantasize while you are masturban” it is like “adulterating in the heart”, what do you think???

I love MUSIC!!!

But I’m very careful, with what kind of music I listen to. I think that music is a double-edged sword.

“The art or science of combining vocal or instrumental sounds (or both) to produce beauty of form, harmony, and expression of emotion” (New Oxford American Dictionary)

As the definition tells it’s an expression of emotion, and at least for me when I like a song, I learn the lyrics and try to sing it "with the heart", so that implies that I become jumbled with the feeling or the idea that transmits. That's why every song that I sing must be very well analyzed, especially the lyrics, because when I’m singing I feel what I’m singing. So how I don't want to feel bad, I check the lyrics in the songs that I like.

The possible ways to promote prevention in the Chilean health system

The possible ways to promote prevention in the Chilean health system

1. Why you think education and prevention are important, why not?

Because go to a health professional is expensive for the majority. It is pretty common to go to the health professional, “when you can’t stand the pain”. So if prevention is free and accessible specially for those who doesn’t have much education, people will be more interesting and there is a chance to that people do what the prevention recommends, if this is well done. Because the audience will understand that they may to do, what the speaker told, at least because they will save money and they even could save they own life (a lot of people go to the doctor, when it is too late).-

2. What can be done to promote education and prevention in health care.

In the discussion of today about reproduction, we talk about a very nice idea, Guillermo talks about a Party of Pregnancy, between teenagers and adults people, so I tough that could be with single mothers, specially teens so they could tell their own experience to the teenagers and could be easy to understand. Also in the party will be a health professional talking about a real childbirth (with some pictures to scare xD), and at the end of the “party” we will give eggs to the teens couples (like in the movies of USA), and we will challenge them to take care the eggs as a newborn baby. With the last activity the idea, is that the teens will realize about the responsibility to have sexual relationships.

I really think that promote education and prevention, must be focus especially in high school, because they are growing and they still live with their “parents” so the information could reach a lot of people!

3. How can you help people to improve their health, what activities do you think you can do?

I really love to talk!, so I can talk, talk, talk and keep talking about health to everyone, so I can give talk to people and maybe made a website, and of course give free attention to people than can not pay, because everything is a service and serve for me is always free, in other case is call work :D.-

I love languages. One of the reasons why I study Speech therapy is: to work with people who have troubles with pronunciation and whose mother tongue is not Spanish. So I have to learn other languages, because the patients will understand better if I help them in their own language. It was easy to decide what language to start with because English is the main language around the world.-

The subject has been great I like it very much. My expectations have been fulfilled, in that we have had oral presentation, listening tests, write test, and a lot of conversation is being great. It is always to me hard to start to talk, at the beginning. But every class I think that I am improving, speaking more. The only thing that i really didn’t expected was the focus in English for health students, because in the past I did some English course. The others courses were in some side easier because we didn’t use technical terms, like we do now. But the technical terms had challenge me, and they are a truly need to a health professional, so I like them.-

Your future as a health professional

First, when i decided to study to become a speech therapist?.

I can say that Speech therapist was a divine anwers for me. I really love languages, music, basic sciences and help people. Due to Speech therapist has the perfect mix to me, i decide for speech therapy.

That was my beginning… so What it is next?

As a speech therapist, i expect to work. It is very possibly study, more about my degree.

I would like to go to Australia, to work specifically with two kind of people:

Those who are learning languages and those who work with they voice, specifically with singers and actors. As well i would like to study: dance at Hillsong College (Sydney, Australia), Interpreting and several languages as french, portuguese, german, etc. Because i will work with people that are learning different languages.

And, now that i´ve known speech therapy, very well. I can say specially for those that love Basic sciences and language, and don´t know what to do? You must look speech therapist as a good option to study, because is a good mix of several areas, you have the option of choose between many areas to specialty and you can help many people in something essential as comunication.

Marco Guzmán

I guess that you´ll asking, who is Marco Guzmán?

Well he is and speech therapy, a professional opera singer and broadcaster.
He studied in University of Chile, and now works there, and in another universities too, like Mayor and Catholic (Santiago). He also works in Las Condes Clinic in Santiago.

For me he is the best speech therapy, i really think that i would like to be like him.Because the main reason why i study speech therepy it is music, because i really love it and help people it is very important to me too, so speech therapy, is perfect to me.

I have been always interestied in arts.

Actually i am studing singing and i hope to study broadcasting soon.

So he is for me, in the professional area a model to follow, because he do what i like.-

I do not have a favourite career-related website, because i am in first year, that means that the majority of my subjets are of general formation, like mathematics, biology, anatomy, sicology, and others and just one subject specific of speech therapy, that is: introduction to speech therapy, as you can see, i am not yet in the “speech therapy World” , but there is too many pages that i am visiting to research to my differents homeworks, some of that pages are]: http://books.google.cl/bkshp?hl=es&tab=wp and http://www.scielo.com/ . I visit those pages very often, because those pages help me to find information easily. The first page, have a lot of books, and some of them like “Netter” (Anatomy atlas) and “cantar y hablar” (very good book about speech therapy), are complete online so for my that page is very useful, because sometimes the books on library that i need, anothers students need it too, so i can not get them. The another page is an electronic library, so the page have actual information, like papers about differents subjects like: enginner, linguistic, biology, etc.

So if you study in college those pages will help you a lot to research, and study because have too many information in several areas.-

Eartquake, part 1

One of the most exciting nigth ever!!! i was in Pichilemu, a very famous surf beach in Chile.

That nigth i was with my mother, my aunt Marcela, my cousin Vita and her daugther Fa, with a distant aunt Quela and a distant cousin Francisca, because my family have cottages over there, and i was sleeping with my mom and distant aunt Quela, that day i supossed to wake up at 4 because i will comming back to rancagua (where i lived, when i not studying) at 4:30 am so i sleep ready to go, (wearing normal cloth no a pyjamas, i was pretty lazy XD). My mom woke up more or less at 3, and when the tremor start we when to the door and i hold my distan aunt Quela because she did not react, my house is close to the beach so i get worry about a possible tsunami and i went outside to look the sea and the other people (my others parients were in an other cottage, i when to look then too, and they look saved)...

this history will continue....
